Thank you for your interest in our Segment One Driver Education course! Here’s everything you need to know before getting started:
Eligibility
- Students must be at least 14 years and 8 months old to enroll (per Michigan law).
- A parent or guardian must attend the first class (Course Orientation) to:
- Show the student’s birth certificate for age verification
- Sign a Parent/Student Agreement
What Segment One Includes
- A 4-week course combining classroom instruction and behind-the-wheel training
- 12 classroom sessions, typically held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Note: Class days/times may occasionally change, but this is rare.
- All classes take place at Atchinson Ford in Van Buren Township, Michigan (Belleville and Tyler Rd)
Behind-the-Wheel Driving
- Includes 6 driving sessions, scheduled after the course begins
- The behind the wheel training portion of the course usually conducted on weekends. (Sat/Sun)
- Driving instruction includes both active driving and in-car observation
Tuition
- Total Cost: $440 all materials included – no hidden fees!
Payment Terms
- Total course cost is $440.00
- $240 minimum due on the first day of class
- Remaining balance must be paid by the last classroom session
Payment Methods Accepted
Payment not expected until check in on the first day of your class. Please note - Credit payments subject to a processing fee. We do not accept personal checks.
Registration
Seats are limited and classes fill quickly, so pre-registration is required to attend.
After You Complete Segment One
Students who successfully complete the course will be eligible to apply for a Michigan Level One License (learner’s permit). This allows them to drive with a licensed driver who is 21 or older in the vehicle.
Notice to Adult Students
This course is not available to new drivers 18 or older without prior approval from the driving school. Please contact customer service for assistance.
